It's good to see it go! I used to look forward to February because I love Valentine's Day and my birthday is 2 days afterwards, so it's usually a fun month for me. When I found out I was pregnant with
Kaeley and realized her birthday would be close to mine, I thought that was great, but it seems that every year some sort of illness ruins the celebration. And now that I've hit 35, birthdays are not as fun as they used to be, it seems 40 is just around the corner! And I know I'm as wordy as they come, so I'll try to keep this short, cause really, I could write a novel about it! Here are 12 reasons why I'm glad it's March!
- February 1st - Ella asks for a bucket during church - yes, that means puke.
- February 4th - Ella throws up again, which is common for her being as she had a cold.
- February 5th - Kaeley puke. Ok, so maybe Ella has a stomach bug and not just a cold!
- February 8th - Ella puke. Happy Birthday Kaeley! Too much icing from Kaeley's cupcakes!
- February 16th - Kaeley cuts her hair. Happy Birthday to me!
- February 18th - Kaeley cuts a hole in her pants w/ scissors at school.
- February 19th - Kaeley cuts a hole in her tights w/ scissors at home.
- February 24th - Kaeley has a tummy ache and feels as if she is going to throw up.
- February 26th - Ella throws up (x 6) and has fever.
- February 27th - More of the same... Ella - puke (x 3) & fever.
- February 28th - Ella puke (x 2), no fever.
- March 1st - Ella puke (x 1), no fever.
Hello spring! Are you out there?!? So yes, my second child is indeed a puker! If you have more than one child, chances are you have one that is a puker. Lucky me! And as for Kaeley and her scissors...I asked her teacher at school if I was missing something, was this a cry for attention? She told me honestly that Kaeley was the last one in her class she would even dream of doing such. Her opinion, this is Kaeley's way of thinking outside the box and exploring her creative side because she is truly a little artist. She told me she would be on the lookout for Kaeley Scissorhands! Her advice was for me to give her lots of structured cutting activities at home. So after she cut her tights, I had her take them off and pick up the scissors and cut them up. She cut the lace cuff off the ankles and put them on as bracelets. Then she put one of the legs on her arm and said it would keep her arm warm. The look on her face when I told her to cut them - PRICELESS!
Of course with birthdays, come presents (other than puke and uneven haircuts!) ...the good kind! I told my mom I felt old and I didn't want anything practical for my birthday - just
frivolous. She was right on the money with an AWESOME Coach purse! She and John were in for
Kaeley's birthday party and treated Greg and I to a kid free evening at the Copper Cellar, where they have the most wonderful chocolate cake. It's like chocolate cake at a restaurant, how good could it really be? Oh MY! It was YUM! Then my wonderful husband treated me to a fabulous Valentine's dinner at one of our new favorite restaurant's - Season's, along with a dozen and a half of red roses. My birthday was made complete with another kid free dinner at the Melting Pot. We eat out a lot and I wanted to try something different. It was really good. Different, but good! Dad and Carolyn kept the girls for us and joined us back at our house for Eva's strawberry cake, another one of my favorites. And since Eva's closed, it's a bit hard to buy their cakes, but luckily we know a lady who used to work there and can make their cakes. My Dad and Carolyn got me a new Vera Bradley tote bag - just as I wanted and Greg and the girls treated me to a new pink
iPod Shuffle. It's a tee-tiny little thing... so perfect for working out at the gym! So yes, after all the illness, it was nice to have a few birthday treats!
