Happy Halloween?

Now technically it is still July, and yes indeed, I spotted Halloween cards at the grocery store this week! So, I thought I would go ahead a decorate my blog with a spooky spider! I was out spraying roundup this morning - (yea, go me, another New Year's Resolution - keeping the weeds away!) and spotted him along the rocks of my front flower bed. He is a black widow, notice the RED belly. The Orkin guy had just been here not too long ago and told me to beware of the rocks and he showed me a web along them. He moved some of the rocks, but we never saw a spider. Then Kaeley, spotted literally 2 or 3 ants inside the house, I immediately called the Orkin guy back for ants. While trying to find the ant nest outside he spotted yes, another black widow, and a nice bonus of 2 egg sacs which hold about 200+ spiders each. The Orkin guy saved the day, killed the spider and removed the egg sacs. I've been watching the web out front for a spider, and low and behold, he was there this morning. But now he's gone! I took a picture for awareness sake. Until the Orkin guy showed me the other one and pointed out the red belly, I would have never known. He also said to be careful around low lying rocks like along flower beds because they usually build their webs low to the ground. The one he found with egg sacs was actually on the outside of my screened in porch - ceiling level. I questioned him about the web being high and it said it was unusual. So beware!

Happy New Year!

So if you've ever heard of Christmas in July, then Happy New Year - Hello August! I'm so embarrassed that it has been over a YEAR since I've updated my blog! So much to do and so little time, I suppose. Excuses, excuses... I've just got to do better!

It feels a little like New Year's to me. Seems like I have several resolutions going on. I'm trying, yes, still trying to lose weight gained during my pregnancies. Yes, Kaeley is 5 and Ella is almost 3, and it's time to find "my" body! I've lost 7 pounds so far, so I'm motivated! I shouldn't say "still trying" more like "now trying". I haven't really cared about my weight, but fall is upon is and some new clothes would be nice, so that's some extra motivation!

We are also working on new night time routines at the Morton house. School starts in less than 2 weeks and these girls, and yes that includes me, have to start going to bed EARLY! We're working on bedtime at 8pm and getting up at 7am for the little ones. Kaeley will have to be at school at 7:30 so we will actually have to get up at 6:30am so that could mean bedtime between 7 and 7:30. That just sounds crazy! And I've been cleaning out drawers and such, trying to get organized, and transition into the new school year with ease. Our bow business has taken off, with a HUGE thanks to the blog world! So needless to say, Jessica and I have been covered up with bow orders, so my house is a little untidy to say the least! As a matter of fact, that was my plan for the evening - to do some cleaning once the girls went to bed, and here I am blogging instead. Blogging or cleaning, tough decision, huh?

We've had a really busy summer and more on that later, but just a brief update, Kaeley finished up her second set of swim lessons with Ms. Mildred today. She really enjoys swimming. She asked me today if we could go swimming at Ms. Mildred's again one day, I said of course! She's also really into fixing herself up, looking like a princess or being stylish and fashionable like someone famous such as Hannah Montanna. She's really interested in "play" makeup and for the first time - fixing and playing with her hair. Oh my! She's really excited about going to Kindergarten. I think she's getting a little bored at home.

Ella Beth, well, as I mentioned she is 2 - almost 3, and I'm sure you've heard of "terrible 2's" and "terrible 3's". Yes indeed! It's been bad! I have 2 girls and I find it hard, but I was talking to a mom of 4 girls today and she taught me a new phrase ... "sweet girl". She was talking to Ella and said "sweet girl". Now, the 2 or 3 other times we've seen her in the past week, Ella has been none less than a BEAR! I told her I was amazed she was referring to her as "sweet" after how she's been acting. She said you just learn to preface everything with "sweet girl" whether they do something right or wrong. I've tried it some today... Ella just looks at me... like are you sure you're talking to me? She really is a sweetie! They both are! Both are precious and love their mommies more than anything...I treasure it because once they're teenagers that will probably be a different story!

The pictures of the girls are from today.
